Meta settles teen safety lawsuit for $18 billion, calls on TikTok and YouTube to follow
Meta has agreed to an $18 billion settlement with 52 state attorneys general over claims that Facebook and Instagram harm teen mental health. The company is also rolling out new default restrictions on features like Reels and Stories for teen users at certain times of day. Around $5.3 billion of the total is contingent on rivals TikTok and YouTube adopting similar safeguards.
