US, UK and Norway Launch Arctic Military Drills on Jan Mayen Island

US, British and Norwegian forces launched joint military exercises on the volcanic island of Jan Mayen in the North Atlantic on August 26, under the codename Operation Atlantic City. The drills are scheduled to run until September 4 and form part of the NATO Arctic Sentry initiative. Jan Mayen is a remote Norwegian island situated between Iceland and Svalbard.
