FIA approves Mercedes engine upgrades despite rival team objections

The FIA has officially confirmed that Mercedes have been granted permission to upgrade their power unit despite protests from rival teams, notably Red Bull. The governing body's decision allows Mercedes to implement the engine changes during the current Formula 1 season. Competing teams' objections were ultimately overruled.
