Turmeric compound may shield blood vessels from Type 1 diabetes damage
Studies in rats found that curcumin, a compound in turmeric, reduced inflammation, improved cellular signalling, and restored vascular health to levels resembling non-diabetic animals. The results hint at a possible new approach to reducing the long-term cardiovascular risks associated with Type 1 diabetes. Researchers caution that human clinical trials are still needed before any conclusions can be drawn for patients.
