Manhattan-sized ice island breaks off Greenland's Petermann Glacier

A Manhattan-sized ice island has calved from Greenland's Petermann Glacier after years of growing fractures weakened its floating ice tongue. Scientists warn that two more large sections could detach soon, potentially removing around 22 percent of the remaining ice tongue. The event is part of a broader pattern of Arctic glacier retreat linked to climate change.
