ECB: digital euro will offer maximum privacy — Eurosystem won't link transactions to identities

ECB Executive Board member Piero Cipollone said the digital euro will offer a "maximum level of privacy," with the Eurosystem unable to link individuals to their transactions. However, the commercial banks handling those transactions will still have access to the data. The pledge is aimed at addressing public concerns about financial surveillance.
