US core PCE inflation rose 3.3% annually in July, above expectations

The core Personal Consumption Expenditures price index rose 3.3% year-on-year in July, below the 3.6% forecast from Dow Jones-surveyed economists, while the monthly gain came in at 0.1%. The PCE is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure and the data will inform its next interest-rate decision.
