Ethiopia: Tigray authorities cancel Mawlid celebrations over drone strike fears
Mawlid celebrations in Ethiopia's Tigray region were cancelled at the last minute over fears of drone strikes. It is the second major Tigrayan festival in a row to be called off for the same reason — the Ashenda festival was also cancelled just days earlier. Drone strikes have hit northern Ethiopia in recent days amid escalating tensions between the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Ethiopian federal government.
