London's ULEZ zone improved children's lung health, landmark study finds

A landmark study on London's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), introduced in April 2019, found that banning older, polluting vehicles from the city centre significantly improved children's respiratory health. Toxic exhaust fumes stunt lung development in children, raising the risk of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in adulthood. The findings confirm that children's bodies can recover when removed from pollution.
