Tour du Mont-Blanc to require advance booking from spring 2027

French authorities will introduce a mandatory booking system for the Tour du Mont-Blanc trail from spring 2027. The 170-km route, used by over 80,000 hikers a year, is overloading small villages and local infrastructure. New rules in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and nearby towns will require tourists to pre-book mountain huts or bivouac zones before setting out.
