At the "Zdroje" hospital in Szczecin, a woman named Lidka was told she had miscarried — when in fact her pregnancy was developing outside the womb. By the time she reached another facility, it was too late to save her fallopian tube, leaving her permanently unable to conceive naturally. The hospital's insurer refused to pay compensation, finding no grounds for a claim. Experts say a simple departure from routine procedure would have been enough to detect the error in time.
