Amazon shuts down Mechanical Turk, its human-task crowdsourcing platform

Amazon is shutting down its Mechanical Turk service, launched in 2005 as a crowdsourcing platform for tasks easy for humans but too challenging for computers at the time. Jeff Bezos once dubbed it "artificial artificial intelligence." The platform is closing after nearly two decades of operation.
