Channel Tunnel trains set to run every 15 minutes as Virgin enters the route

The number of daily services through the Channel Tunnel is on track to rise from 25 to 55 by the end of the decade, equating to roughly four departures per hour, according to Politico calculations. Virgin Trains has been granted UK regulatory approval to run up to 20 daily return trips between London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, breaking Eurostar's long-standing monopoly. The tunnel has been operating below capacity since it opened in 1994.
