Hungary Eyes Eurozone by 2030 Despite 7.5% GDP Deficit
Hungary's government under Péter Magyar confirmed it still aims to meet the Maastricht criteria and join the eurozone by 2030. However, this year's budget deficit is expected to reach 7.5% of GDP — far above the EU's 3% limit. The government attributes the large fiscal gap to an inherited economic situation, drought and the energy crisis.
