Distant stellar stream may offer new clues about dark matter
A team led by University of Copenhagen PhD student Julie Kiel Holm has discovered a stellar stream stretching more than 3,000 light-years from a globular cluster, apparently shaped by dark matter in a distant galaxy. Dark matter cannot be observed directly and is detected only through its gravitational effects on ordinary matter. The finding could give astronomers new tools for studying this mysterious, invisible substance that permeates the universe.
