Eighth person dies from flesh-eating bacteria linked to oysters in the US

The United States has recorded its eighth death linked to Vibrio bacteria connected to oyster consumption. Vibriosis can cause blistering skin lesions, septic shock and rapid tissue death requiring amputation. Around one in five people infected with the bacteria die from the illness.
