Canada hits US goods with 15–50% retaliatory tariffs and launches $5.4bn aid package

Canada has announced retaliatory tariffs of 15 to 50 percent on US goods, covering around 700 product categories worth C$27.6 billion in imports. The measures take effect on 8 September. Ottawa is also launching a C$5.4 billion aid package for businesses and workers affected by the escalating trade war with the United States.
