Netherlands also wanted Guardiola — de Jong reveals national team's plan

After departing Manchester City following a decade in charge, Pep Guardiola was courted by at least two national teams. Paolo Maldini had previously revealed Italy's interest, and Nigel de Jong has now confirmed that the Netherlands also had plans to hire the Spaniard. Neither offer materialised in the end.
