US removes Syria from state sponsors of terrorism list and eases sanctions

The United States has removed Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, rescinding a decades-old designation that carried severe economic consequences for Damascus. Corresponding sanctions relief for Syria has also been announced alongside the delisting. Turkey welcomed the decision.
