NASA satellites navigate without GPS using other satellites as moving landmarks

NASA's Starling mission — a swarm of four CubeSats in low Earth orbit — has successfully tested GPS-free navigation by using other satellites as moving landmarks. The FALCON experiment, developed with industry partner EraDrive, could enable autonomous navigation for future missions beyond Earth's orbit, including lunar satellite swarms. NASA announced on Monday that the mission will be extended at least until 2028 to maximise the experiment's results.
