Russian economist: we won't win the war of attrition — a social crisis is coming
Andrei Klepach, long-serving chief economist of Russia's state development corporation VEB.RF, publicly stated that Russia is losing the economic war of attrition: "We live in the illusion that everything will collapse over there. It hasn't and it won't. Meanwhile our costs are rising." He warned of an inevitable social crisis and was dismissed from his post, but his remarks spread rapidly across Russia.
