Merck and Moderna mRNA vaccine prevents melanoma recurrence in Phase 3 trial

An experimental mRNA melanoma vaccine combining personalised drug intismeran with monoclonal antibody Keytruda has met its primary endpoint in a Phase 3 clinical trial, preventing recurrence and spread of the cancer. The study enrolled over 1,000 patients who had tumours removed but remained at high risk of relapse. Merck and Moderna said this is the final stage before seeking FDA approval. It marks the closest an oncology mRNA vaccine has ever come to widespread clinical use.
