Landslide at Conakry waste dump kills 30 people

A massive waste dump in Guinea's capital Conakry collapsed after heavy overnight rain, engulfing nearby tents and shacks and killing 30 people, the government confirmed. The disaster struck less than a week after authorities announced plans to close and relocate the site due to the danger it posed during the rainy season, which causes deadly landslides across West Africa each year.
