Poland's population fell by 159,000 in a year, but birth rate decline is slowing

Poland's population at the end of June was 159,000 lower than in the same period a year earlier, according to the latest Central Statistical Office (GUS) report. The office also noted a slowdown in the declining birth rate, which may be the first encouraging demographic signal in years. Poland continues to grapple with a deepening demographic crisis.
