Government seeks PiS votes to override Nawrocki's veto on next-of-kin law
The Polish government is planning another attempt to pass the next-of-kin status law, which would grant rights similar to marriage to partners in informal relationships. President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the bill, and a three-fifths majority is needed to override it. Left-wing minister Katarzyna Kotula says she is counting on support from some PiS MPs aligned with former PM Mateusz Morawiecki.
