Indonesia ramps up firefighting as wildfire haze reaches Malaysia
Indonesia has stepped up ground and aerial firefighting operations against forest and peatland fires burning tens of thousands of hectares, driven by an El Niño-linked drought and prolonged dry season. The resulting haze has spread across parts of Southeast Asia, reaching Malaysia. Indonesian authorities are deploying additional aircraft and ground crews to contain the blazes.
