Nevada wildfire threatens Reno — tens of thousands evacuated as blaze rages

A wind-driven wildfire near Reno, Nevada forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents. At its peak, more than 40,000 people were under evacuation orders; by Monday that number had dropped to around 24,000, with tens of thousands more on alert. The city was blanketed in smoke and schools were closed.
