AliExpress caught fingerprinting users via inaudible audio sent to browsers

Researcher Matthew Callaghan discovered that AliExpress uses an outdated browser fingerprinting technique based on inaudible audio sent to visitors' browsers. He stumbled on it accidentally — every time he loaded the AliExpress homepage, audio stopped playing through his Bluetooth headphones. Investigation revealed two heavily obfuscated scripts that analyse browsers' response to the inaudible sounds to identify users.
