Batteryless pacemaker powered by heartbeats passes month-long pig trial
Researchers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison have built a nanogenerator that powers an electrodeless pacemaker directly from the mechanical energy of heartbeats, removing the need for a battery. The device passed a month-long experiment in a pig, though clinical trials in humans remain a distant prospect.
