Historic deal: Poland and NATO allies order Piorun missiles for 8 billion PLN
A framework agreement worth 8 billion PLN for the delivery of several thousand Piorun portable air-defence systems was signed on 24 August at the MESKO plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna. Over 80 percent of the order will go to the Polish Armed Forces, with Lithuania, Latvia and Norway also included. Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz described it as the largest Piorun procurement contract in history. The purchase will be financed through the EU's SAFE fund.
