Bulgaria plans Danube dam near Kozloduy nuclear plant as river dries up

Bulgarian Energy Minister Iva Petrova announced plans to build a dam on the Danube near the Kozloduy nuclear power plant, which has been forced to cut output due to record-low river levels. The river serves as the plant's cooling water source, making the drought a direct threat to electricity production. The minister acknowledged that "the situation remains difficult."
