Shelba Catterton, an 83-year-old Alzheimer's patient, died after being attacked by a swarm of fire ants outside her nursing home, sustaining around 1,000 bites and stings. Her family alleges in a lawsuit that she was able to wander outside through a door left open by a nursing home employee. The family is suing the facility for negligence.
