French police increasingly violent in stopping Channel crossings, NGO says

French NGO Utopia 56 reports that 2,720 people have so far this year reported being victims of French police violence on Channel crossing beaches, up from 1,954 in the same period last year. The organisation criticises the "human cost" of the UK-funded crackdown on migrants trying to reach Britain in small boats. Officers are reportedly blocking migrants from boarding dinghies with increasing force.
