Zakopane mayor refuses to carry out same-sex marriage transcriptions despite new law
Since Sunday, every Polish civil registry office has been required to transcribe foreign same-sex marriage certificates. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski warned local authorities against refusing to comply, but Zakopane mayor Łukasz Filipowicz is maintaining his opposition and describes the government's warnings as "intimidating municipalities".
