US imposes 50% tariffs on some Canadian goods after talks collapse

The United States is imposing 50% tariffs on some goods imported from Canada after trade talks between the two countries broke down. As recently as Friday, both sides appeared close to a deal covering steel, aluminium and car tariffs, as well as restoring American alcohol sales in Canadian stores. The negotiations ultimately collapsed without an agreement.
