Over half of mpox cases in Guinea-Bissau are children as epidemic spreads

More than half of the mpox cases reported in Guinea-Bissau involve children, with 16 patients under the age of four, out of 46 suspected cases. A national epidemic was declared on 4 July, shortly after a 27-year-old woman became the country's first confirmed case. There are seven confirmed and 46 suspected cases in total, and authorities fear the virus may be spreading undetected.
