Ukrainian journalist on 35th independence anniversary: "This war has names and faces"
Ukrainian journalist Alina Makarczuk told TVN24 on the 35th anniversary of Ukrainian independence that many people forget the war is now in its fifth year. She stressed the deeply personal dimension of the conflict — every morning Ukrainians check whether there were air-raid alerts in their city and whether their loved ones are still alive. She appealed for people to see Ukrainians as individuals, not an abstraction.
