Ukrainian troops shooting down missiles with rifles as Russia bombs Kyiv with impunity

Russia is exploiting critical gaps in Ukraine's air defences to strike Kyiv with ballistic missiles largely unchallenged. The shortages are so severe that Ukrainian soldiers have resorted to attempting to shoot down incoming rockets with rifles. The Kremlin, well aware of Ukraine's air-defence weaknesses, has focused its attacks on the capital.
