China investigates use of formaldehyde to keep cabbages fresh

Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into the use of formaldehyde — a carcinogen — to keep cabbages fresh. Using the chemical compound to preserve food is prohibited in China. The country is the world's largest producer of cabbages.
