Patient's own mitochondria injected into retina — temporary vision improvement

Scientists carried out a pioneering experiment by injecting a patient's own mitochondria directly into the retina in an attempt to restore vision. The procedure proved safe, but the improvement in vision was only temporary. The findings were published in the journal Nature.
