New Spider-Man film just $3.4m short of beating Avengers: Endgame's US box-office record
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" starring Tom Holland earned $39 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its US total to $854.9 million. It needs just $3.4 million more to surpass "Avengers: Endgame" ($858.3m) and become the second-highest-grossing film in US box-office history, behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936.7m). Also this weekend, horror sequel "The Marked One: Exit from the Dark Dimension" opened to $25.3 million, making it the fifth film in its franchise to debut above $20 million.
