US–Canada trade talks collapse — auto exports hit with 50% tariffs
US–Canada trade negotiations collapsed after negotiators failed to agree on rules covering light and heavy vehicles. Canadian automotive exports worth roughly $20 billion are now subject to 50% tariffs. Carmakers on both sides of the border face sharply higher costs as a result.
