Over 1,000 wild penguins vaccinated against bird flu in Australia

More than 1,000 little penguins on Phillip Island, Victoria, have received their first dose of bird flu vaccine, in what is believed to be the world's largest wild bird vaccination programme. The campaign is run by Phillip Island Nature Parks, whose chief executive Catherine Basterfield confirmed vaccinations began last week and are scaling up. The programme is considered particularly challenging given the wild, free-roaming nature of the birds.
