New Zealand to ban social media for under-16s with fines up to 10% of global revenue

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced plans to introduce a bill banning children under 16 from social media. Platforms would be required to verify users' ages using facial technology, digital identity documents or existing account data. Non-compliance would carry fines of up to 10% of a platform's global revenue.
