Europeans prefer air conditioning over emissions cuts, survey finds
A survey across five major European nations found more people favour expanding air conditioning adoption over cutting carbon emissions to cope with extreme heat. Following four severe heatwaves that caused thousands of excess deaths, between 30% and 52% of respondents feared for their household's health at temperatures near or above 40°C. Large majorities also said it should be easier to install air conditioning in homes.
