AI chatbots rely on traditional media for over 27% of cited links

Research shows that over 27% of all links cited by large language models come from traditional media outlets. AI algorithms rely on newsroom-produced content while simultaneously diverting readers away from those outlets. This raises the question of who will pay for journalism that increasingly feeds chatbot responses, with Polish daily "Rzeczpospolita" cited as a key source.
