UK Labour MP looks to Australia's model to push assisted dying bill forward

Labour MP Lauren Edwards, originally from Melbourne, is pushing to revive the UK's assisted dying bill, drawing inspiration from Victoria state's 2017 law — the first in Australia to legalise the practice. Under that law, people expected to die within six months (or 12 months for neurodegenerative diseases) facing unacceptable suffering may choose to end their lives. Edwards argues that people should have the right to die surrounded by family rather than face a painful, frightening death.
