Kazakhstan holds first elections to new unicameral parliament with 74% turnout

Kazakhstan has held its first elections to the newly created unicameral parliament, known as the Kurultai. Preliminary data shows voter turnout reached 74.19 percent. Final results are expected by 30 August at the latest. Opposition politicians were barred from participating in the vote.
