Latvia lost 1-3 to Germany in Group A of the Women's European Volleyball Championship. The Latvians, who are Poland's next opponents in the tournament, showed fighting spirit by unexpectedly winning the third set 25-13. Latvia's top player, opposite hitter Marta Levinska, scored 24 points in the match.
