Abandoned farm field turned into orchid-rich meadow in just over a decade

Scientists found that a farm field left without human intervention transformed into a flourishing wildflower meadow in just over a decade. Plant diversity doubled naturally, and thousands of orchids appeared without any planting or seeding. The findings suggest that passive rewilding — simply leaving land alone — could be a powerful and low-cost method of restoring biodiversity.
